Candied bacon isn’t just for your breakfast plate. Load it onto this BLT for a sweet and spicy kick.
One big sammie.
I made this recipe using large slices of sourdough bread so this sandwich is pretty huge. My husband and I split it with soup or a side salad for dinner and it was perfect. But if you are starving, this sandwich will certainly relieve you of your hunger pangs. If the slices of bread you have on hand are smaller, use this recipe to make two sandwiches instead.
Candied Bacon.
Are you a sweet and salty fan like I am? Then you’re going to love this sandwich. It’s crispy, crunchy, fresh, savour with just a wee hint of spicy sweetness. Of course it can be made with regular bacon too but I mean… who wants regular bacon when you can have candied bacon. Make sure you start this recipe by whipping up a batch of my Spicy Candied Bacon. And then get ready to fall in love.
Check out the recipe video below for a tutorial on how to make this tasty sammie:
Cheesy BLT Sandwich with Spicy Candied Bacon
Ingredients

- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 large slices of bread
- 1 medium tomato sliced
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup iceberg lettuce
- 1 tbsp mayo
Instructions
- Make the Spicy Candied Bacon* and set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- When the skillet is hot, add the olive oil and then the bread.
- Toast the bread on the first side until golden.
- Flip both pieces of bread and top one piece of bread with the shredded cheese. Turn heat down to low, cover and cook until the cheese is melted and the other side of the bread is toasty and golden.
- Remove the bread from the skillet and place on a cutting board.
- Spread the mayo on the non-cheesy slice of bread.
- Place the bacon onto the mayo side of the bread then pile with the tomato, and then lettuce.
- Top with the cheesy bread, slice and devour.
