Oh lawdy, do I ever love a juicy burg. Luckily, an amazing burger is not hard to find in this city. It’s a good thing too, because I crave them all the time. Beef burgers are super scrummy but I certainly have a soft spot for a crispy chicken burger. Below are my go-to burger spots in Victoria. It is by no means a complete list of all the amazing burgers in Victoria, but they are my personal favourites.

PSA: Don’t read this if you’re hungry.

Bin 4 Burger Lounge

my love

No burger list would be complete without the ever-loved Bin 4 Burger Lounge. I am #blessed that there is a Bin 4 location within spitting distance of my home. Best amenity ever. The burgers at this hot spot are piled high with tasty, quality toppings, and always satisfy.

My absolute favourite numero uno burger in Victoria is the Bin 19 “The Big Dipper”. I like to describe it as a “French onion soup burger,” and I think it’s quite fitting. Alongside the standard toppings (lettuce, tomato), the burger comes with a juicy wagyu beef patty topped with both caramelized and crispy onions (hello) and melty cheese. But that’s not all! The pièce de résistance is most heavenly beef jus for dipping. I am not lying when I say I dream about this burger. But honestly, all of the Bin’s burgers are delicious. The hub’s fav is the Bin 47 “My Big Fat Greek Burger” which is a greek-themed, lamb-y delight.

I should also mention the absolutely necessary Almond Praline & Blue Cheese Salad as the best side. Yes. A salad. Hear me out. With choosing a salad, you ensure you can fit more burger into your body. I think this is important. Bin 4’s burgers are huge. I have eaten many Bin 4 burgers in my time, and let me tell you, if you get a carb-y side, you may not not be able to finish your meal.

But you should really order the salad because it is simply divine. I once called to order Bin 4  and they did not have the salad available – I assume because of an ingredient shortage – and I did not complete the order. I need that salad alongside my burger. But you do you.

You really can’t go wrong with any of the other sides: fries, onion rings (made with red onions – so crazy good), deep fried pickles, and house-made chips. And make sure you get a tasty dipping sauce too. You and your food baby will sleep well that evening.

Ugh. I’m getting hungry.

10 Acres Commons

just perfect

10 Acres has several restaurants on Vancouver Island, including two in Victoria: Commons and The Bistro. Both restaurants are beautiful and inviting, and they use delicious local ingredients such as produce and meat from their own farm. Both restaurants have outdoor space and I love spending happy hour sipping, munching, and people-watching from their kick-ass patios.

Ok, let’s get down to it: The Burger. That’s legit what it’s called on the menu. Now, 10 Acres Commons isn’t a burger restaurant, so I honestly wasn’t expecting the burger to be that good. Oh boy was I wrong. That burger is perfection. It isn’t fancy. A *classic cheeseburger*, if you will. It’s simply damn good. The fresh in-house ground chuck is flavourful and juicy. I got bacon added to mine. Tip: add bacon. And with this burger, forgo the salad and get the fries, which are so crispy and perfectly salted.

The burger also comes with a pickle (yay!). I think every meal needs to come with a pickle.

Are you getting hungry?

Pink Bicycle

ily truffles + mushrooms

Pink Bicycle is a super cute, cozy restaurant that serves killer burgers. And poutine! And onion rings! The hardest thing about going to Pink Bicycle is choosing!

With some restaurants I have a go-to food item (see Bin 19 above), but with others, I have a hard time choosing because I want everything. Pink Bicycle falls into the latter category.

The hubs’s go-to is the Bahn Mi Burger: so fresh and crunchy. The Honey Mustard Burger is always tempting. With bacon (obviously). If I see truffles/mushrooms on the menu, I will always lean towards that. The Bicycle’s Truffle Mushroom Burger is super tasty and is the burger that I’ve ordered the most.

Another thing to watch out for: Pink Bicycle has daily specials. Their reuben/burger hybrid has been my favourite so far. The melty Swiss cheese and piles of corned beef spoke to me.

Pink Bicycle has a smattering of scrummy sides to choose from. Everything is yum, but my top sides are the poutine – they even have a truffle poutine (omg) – and the beer-battered onion rings. If its beer-battered, I’m going to devour it.

Ok, I’m so hungry now.

Burger Crush

two cheeseburgers
that caramelized crust

Sometimes simple is best. And when I want a classic cheeseburger with cheesy fries, I know where to go: Burger Crush

Burger Crush has a short menu, but that doesn’t mean the burgers are short on flavour. They serve up cheeseburgers, fries, nuggets, and shakes. All menu items also have a vegan version, too – except the nugs and fries, which are vegan to being with.

This little burger joint specializes in smash burgers, which are beef patties smashed onto the flattop grill while cooking. This gives the thin patty a crispy, caramelized crust. It’s honestly to die for.

My favourite side to get is the ‘Crushed Fries,’ which are served up with luscious cheese sauce, fried onions, and their signature burger sauce. They are so good.

And don’t forget to get a milkshake, which are so amazingly creamy and are the perfect dessert to end a burger meal.

I’m legit starving over here.

Big Wheel Burger

oh so crispy

Big Wheel Burger has several locations around Greater Victoria (thank gawd). Simply put, they have some darn good, high quality, fresh burgers. Before I make my way to Big Wheel for a meal, I think, “I wonder what kind of specials they have on right now?” That’s because they always have an epic burger, fries and milkshake special each month to tempt me.

This is a burger post, but oh damn, I have to mention the milkshakes. They have the tastiest milkshake flavours (Nanaimo bar! Tiramisu! Birthday Cake!), my mouth is watering just thinking about them.

My favourite Big Wheel burger is the Crispy Chicken Burger. If a crispy chicken burger is on the menu, I’m probs going to order it. And Big Wheel’s does not disappoint. Topped with classic fresh burger veg and crunchy fried chicken, it is so dang juicy and flavourful.

Just be sure to get some Garlic & Parmesan fries on the side.

Are you drooling yet?

Flying Otter Grill

so juicy

Flying Otter Grill is not a burger joint, but a floating restaurant in the inner harbour of Victoria. The location is enough of a reason to go to this restaurant, but another good reason is their Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger. It comes with all the regular fixins: lettuce, tomato, and onion. It’s a simple, no frills chicken burger and it’s simply very good. The chicken is flavourful, juicy and crispy.

Get it with a side of their house-cut fries and you’ve got one heck of a meal on your hands. Plus it can be enjoyed while literally on the water, sipping a tasty Caesar, watching the little harbour taxi boats go by.

I’m drooling.

Thunderbird

chicken burger and fries
that Megan sauce tho

Thunderbird is famous for its Korean fried chicken. It’s famous for a reason.

The chicken is juicy and crispy. The sauces are divine. One particular yummy sauce is called Megan, which is a spicy soy sauce with assorted pepper vinaigrette. Lucky for us, Thunderbird also makes an amazing burger called the Megan Burger in which a crispy chicken thigh is doused in the epic sauce of the same name. Can I commend the brioche bun? Dang, do I ever love a brioche bun for a burger. So plush. All the toppings are super fresh and the pickled cukes are a superb addition. This burger is otherworldly.

The dreamy thing about Thunderbird is that you can order a burger alongside a bunch of tasty other menu items like their bao, their ah-mazing lightly battered fries, or yang-nyeom popcorn chicken. Or have them all!

Just don’t forget a side of pickled radish and kimchi to cut through that crispy fried food.

Now let’s go get some burgers!
