This browned butter cinnamon sugar spread is absolutely perfect slathered on anything from toast to scones to muffins.
Liquid Gold.
Browned butter is a close friend of mine. Might even be a *best* friend. When you brown butter it turns into this nutty, toffee-ish delight. The flavour is unbelievable and it will amplify any dish you decide to use it in (hello Roasted Sweet Potato & Sage Perogies with Browned Butter Sauce). So if you’re looking to upgrade your toast game, look no further than this mildly sweet and spiced butter spread.
Check out the recipe video below for a tutorial on how to make this sweet browned butter:
Cinnamon Sugar Browned Butter
Ingredients
- ½ cup salted butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Heat a small saucepan over medium heat.
- When the pan is hot, add the butter and cook, stirring often for about 5 to 8 minutes or until butter changes to a golden brown colour.
- Pour the mixture into a bowl and place in the freezer until completely cool, about 20 minutes.
- Once completely cool, remove from the freezer and, using a handheld mixer, whip the butter for about 1 minute.
- Add the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Continue to whip the butter until fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- Spread on absolutely everything.
