This blended mocha is the ultimate afternoon pick-me-up oh so creamy thanks to a special lil ingredient. 


So creamy.

Have you tried freezing milk and using it in frozen coffee drinks or smoothies? It makes the creamiest frozen beverage ever. Ditch the ice and try this trick instead. All you need to do is fill an ice cube tray with milk, let it freeze overnight and transfer the frozen cubes to a container or freezer bag. Any milk will do – choose your favourite and freeze away. Now you’ll always have milk cubes on hand to toss into your favourite blended drink.

Ingredients

Mocha

  • 3 large cubes or 6 medium cubes frozen milk of your choice
  • 2 oz espresso
  • 3 oz coffee creamer of your choice
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 oz simple syrup (reduce or omit if your creamer is sweetened) recipe follows

Simple Syrup

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

  • The day before: make milk cubes using your favourite milk. Freeze until solid.
  • To make the simple syrup: place sugar and water in a measuring cup. Place in the microwave and heat for 1 minute. Stir syrup and microwave for 1 more minute. Stir again until sugar is dissolved and set aside to cool. Alternatively, you can combine the water and sugar in a small saucepan and heat until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Combine all the mocha ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. 
  • Transfer to a glass and enjoy!
